Libertarians say Ohio ballot law too strict

The party has filed lawsuits against Ohio and Tennessee trying to strike down what it believes are unconstitutionally restrictive ballot-access regulations. The party’s primary goal is to get former Georgia congressman Bob Barr on the ballot in 48 states either as an independent candidate or under the Libertarian label.

A rule put in place by former Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell required the party to turn in more than 40,000 signatures 120 days before the presidential primary. That law was struck down as unconstitutional in 2006 by the 6th U.S. Circuit…

Abu Ghraib inmates sue, claiming torture

Teen Decapitated by Ride at Six Flags

Authorities told the NBC affiliate’s Web site, 11Alive.com that around 2:30 p.m. that the boy was decapitated when he was struck by the Batman ride, a coaster at the amusement park that can travel as fast as 50 miles per hour. The park is just west of Atlanta.

State officials blame a faulty cable and slow response by an amusement park ride operator in the accident. Her family is suing Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, claiming the park failed to maintain the ride and equipment and ensure riders' safety….
