California to Legalize Weed for Everyone

With enough signatures, Californians could be voting to legalize marijuana in the upcoming November election. They need 694,354 signatures by September, 5, 2008. It’s totally do-able. Its been over a decade since Proposition 215, the Compassionate Use Act of 1996, was passed with over 5 million votes in favor.

While this may insulate California consumers from state police, marijuana will still be illegal under federal law, and if one state were to flagrantly announce that it will violate federal law, DOJ would probably get involved in busting and…

Bush Fulfills His Grandfather’s Dream.

The grandson of Prescott, that dreamer of the 1930s, established with very little resistance that the U.S. government can kidnap, detain indefinitely on no charge, torture, and murder. The United States under Prescott Bush’s grandson adopted policies that heretofore had been considered only Nazi policies….

Actually, if you listen to the 30-minute BBC story, there is not one word of so much as speculation as to why this story is so little known. I think a clue to the answer can be found by looking into why this BBC report has not led to any U.S….

Robert “Cocaine and Fun” Wexler Returns to Colbert Report

Didn’t he learn his lesson last time?

The last time Florida Congressman Robert Wexler and Stephen met, it was all about how fun cocaine and prostitutes were. Last night, Wexler was a little shy about playing the repeating game. He's got two opponents to worry about this time.

Scott Ritter: US Determined to Attack Iran Before New Pres.

Scott Ritter is speaking out about what he sees as history repeating itself regarding U.S. policy toward Iran and the inevitability of a U.S.-led attack on the country, which he believes will happen prior to a new president being sworn into office in January 2009.
Were going to see some military activity before the new administration is sworn in.

Ritter had some tough words for Washington lawmakers for continuously failing to put any obstacles into place to block the Bush administration from even attempting to attack Iran without first consulting Congress. We see not only has Congress…

Can McCain claim the Ron Paul votes?

With iconoclast Ron Paul having ended his quixotic bid for the Republican presidential nomination ? his platform had called for, among other things, ending the Iraq War, repealing the PATRIOT Act, returning to the gold standard and eliminating taxes on tips ? his many dedicated supporters are up for grabs.

While it had little impact on his base of political support, Paul found himself the subject of widespread criticism when racist remarks published in the 1990s in the Ron Paul Political Report, a newsletter he?s distributed for decades, came to…

Bloomberg defends Obama from “lies”

“As Im sure many of you know, there are plenty of emails floating around the Internet targeting Jewish voters and saying that Senator Obama is secretly a Muslim, and a radical one at that. Lets call those rumors what they are: lies.” - A very long, well written piece by Mayor Bloomberg.

You might say we’ve grown up – and the younger generation has helped us do it. I’m not just talking about Jews and African-Americans. I’m talking about all of New York, the most wonderfully diverse city…

Confidence in the US Congress is at a record low

Even as President Bushs approval rating languishes at a record low, more than twice as many Americans have confidence in the presidency ? 26 percent ? than have confidence in Congress.

I agree, this article is about the knuckleheads in Congress not about the presidential election. Every member of the House is up for re-election this year and every one of them should be compelled to go on record with his position about…
