Obama, Carlin and Patriotism

What gives anyone to the right to question wheather someone is a patriot?

Now there is something wrong if you don’t follow the party line, if you don’t shake hands the right way, if you’re not wearing a flag pin, or whatever the patriotic note of the day is. That my friends (Stole that…

McCain Wants to Continue Bush’s Failed ‘War on Drugs’ Policy

One of the reasons John McCain says he is touring Colombia and Mexico this week is to underscore the importance of the “War on Drugs.” Just as McCain wants to continue Bush’s failed policies in the “War on Terror,” he wants to continue Bush’s failed policies in the “War on Drugs” as well.

The 'war on drugs' is in fact a pre runner to the 'war on terrorism' ..at its core (if the values of 'freedom, liberty and the persuit of happiness' actually mean ANYTHING ) Anti American … open license to…

The right’s game-playing with “anti-Semitism” accusations

Those who seek war with Iran endlessly exploit “dual loyalty” claims in order to promote their political agenda, while screaming “anti-Semitism” at political opponents who make the same claim.

Like everyone else, I don't know whether there is really any serious intent in the Bush administration to initiate some sort of attack on Iran (many very credible analysts highly doubt it will happen). But the risk is substantial…

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating after video shot from inside at Mt. Juliet patrol car shows an officer choking a suspect. After reviewing the tape, the district attorney dropped charges and handed the tape over to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

According to WKRN, “The incident began with a traffic stop. Officer Cosby said he smelled burning marijuana, ordered Anders out of the car and told him to spit out something he had in his mouth. … Cosby didn’t find…

Barack Obama and his Battle Plan Could Win Him the Election

After looking at some polls, it’s going to be interesting to see just how this 50 state battle for votes is going to pan out.

He has no intention of winning in very red states.? He knows that he cannot win in them, but is going to spend money anyways.? By doing this, John McCain will have to spend money in those states as well.? The less money that McCain has for…

Housing crisis worse, Congress takes vacation

If youre taking some well-deserved rest for the Fourth of July, you are probably getting at best a day or two off around the actual holiday itself. Only in Congress could a break for the Fourth? become a vacation spanning more than a week.

Im a Democrat however I am a tax paying citizen first. Its seems the Dems are taking their political power for granted. Forclosure is not a issue to be politicized. There are lives hanging in the balance. It would be like people sick with a mass…

Gallup: Americans Worry McCain Would Be Too Similar to Bush

- A recent USA Today/Gallup poll finds about two in three Americans concerned that John McCain would pursue policies as president that are too similar to what George W. Bush has pursued. Nearly half — 49% — say they are “very concerned” about this.

A recent CBS News poll asked registered voters what they thought McCain would do — continue Bush's policies, change to more conservative policies, or change to less conservative policies. A plurality of 43% believe he would…

Until After Labor Day

It’s summer, and while some people are cooling themselves off in malls or working on their tans at the beach, surely the majority, the people who are moderately intelligent and who care about their livelihoods, have some idea of what’s going on in national politics, right?

I'm submitting this to digg tomorrow… Pretty good article.

McCain in 2003: Military Service Not Required for Presidency

Wesley Clark argued that getting shot down is [not] a qualification to be President.? The McCain campaign issued a statement condemning Clarks remarks. But during an interview with National Journal in 2003, John McCain said that he ‘absolutely don’t believe’ that military service was necessary for the presidency, echoing Clarks comments.

Barfly, I can see you want to change the subject to Ronald Regan, likely because you can’t find any reason to defend the utter lack of any experience at all in Barry Obama. I can see how that could be embarrassing. We’re…

How to Market Obama to Your Republican Friends

There is a large reservoir of discontent among Republicans who are dissatisfied with John McCain as the GOP nominee. These votes, and those of other Republicans now disenchanted are ripe for the picking this fall - IF you know how to make the case to these people.

In general, Republican voters dont have the same priorities as Democrats. The reasons YOU support Sen. Obama are most likely NOT the factors on which your Republican associates will make their voting decisions. Dont assume that your 'hot…

As war clouds gather: Democrats back covert attacks on Iran

Leading congressional Democrats have given their approval to a vastly expanded program of US covert warfare against Iran, according to an article by investigative reporter Seymour Hersh, published in the New Yorker, and made available on the magazines web site Sunday.

President Bush issued a Presidential Finding, a classified notification to top congressional leaders about the covert program against Iran, last year, after the Democrats took control of the Senate and House of Representatives in the November 2006…

How The Media Completely Distorted Wesley Clark

General Clark did not attack McCains Military record as the media has been blathering about all day long..He questioned the relevance of being shot down and taken prisoner as being a qualifier to be President of the United States…get it right MSM>..

On October 27, 1967, four days after being shot down, McCain called for a North Vietnamese guard. He told the officer, “O.K., I'll give you military information if you will take me to the hospital.” -U.S. News and World Report,…

Gen. Wesley Clark Stands By His Criticism Of Sen. McCain

Despite heavy criticism, Gen. Wesley Clark is standing by his statement this weekend that Sen. John MCain’s military experience doesn’t qualify him to be commander-in-chief.

“John McCain is running his campaign on his experience and how his experience would benefit him and our nation as President. That experience shows courage and commitment to our country - but it doesn't include executive experience…

Obama Leads McCain by 2 in Virginia

A new poll of the state of Virginia was released recently by Survey USA, and it reveals a tight race between Barack Obama and John McCain. Obama holds a slight two point lead, 49%-47%. Thus far, the state is starkly split along gender lines. McCain leads with men 58%-40% and Obama with women, 58%-36%.

Interestingly, the poll also showed that Jim Webb would only add two points to Obamas lead over McCain, no matter who the Republican chose as his running mate. An Obama/Webb ticket tops out at 49% in the state. Virginia has the look of a…

In Flag City USA, False Obama Rumors Are Flying

On his corner of College Street, Jim Peterman stares at the four American flags planted in his front lawn and rubs his forehead. Peterman, 74, is a retired worker at Cooper Tire, a father of two, an Air Force veteran and a self-described patriot. He took one trip to Washington in…

On the television in his living room, Peterman has watched enough news and campaign advertisements to hear the truth: Sen. Barack Obama, born in Hawaii, is a Christian family man with a track record of public service. But on the Internet, in his…

Memo to Obama: Moving to the Middle is for Losers

Arianna Huffington: “I can unequivocally say: the Obama campaign is making a very serious mistake. Tacking to the center is a losing strategy. And don’t let the latest head-to-head poll numbers lull you the way they lulled Clinton in December. Running to the middle in an attempt to attract undecided swing voters didn’t work for Al Gore in 2000.”

I think Obama has always been the most moderate of the Democratic candidates. I'm not sure that he is leaning so much to the middle. It is interesting, HIllary Clinton has always been more moderate than the extremists on either end wanted her…

Warner Todd Huston is a Chicago based freelance writer, has been writing opinion editorials and social criticism since early 2001 and is featured on many websites such as newsbusters.org, townhall.com, New Media Journal, Mens News Daily and the…

A not-so-public man: the private character of John McCain

Yet, likely because of those same values, McCain maintains a strict code of silence about his sons’ military service, no matter how legitimate his pride or politically useful their military status…
…and with as great an opportunity to set the record straight and tell the world about the heroics of being an adoptive father…

It's pretty amazing when you think about it. War hero John McCain has been in the public eye almost his entire adult life. He's run numerous campaigns, served in Congress for 25 years, and is in his second run for the presidency. Yet,…

Bill Clinton Says Obama Must ‘Kiss My Ass’ For His Support

Bill Clinton is so bitter about Barack Obama’s victory over his wife Hillary that he has told friends the Democratic nominee will have to beg for his wholehearted support.

It is so unfortunate BC has again deluded himself into believing Barack Obama or anyone for that matter is in possession of the magic bullet that will rectify the rift he created for himself in the African American community. That is the fairy…

A Win by McCain Could Push a Split Court to Right

For much of its term, the Supreme Court muted last year’s noisy dissents, warmed to Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr.’s vision of narrow, incremental decisions and continued a slow but hardly steady move to the right.

A victory by the presumptive Democratic nominee, Barack Obama, would probably mean preserving the uneasy but roughly balanced status quo, since the justices who are considered most likely to retire are liberal. A win for his Republican…
