First Americans matter to Obama. He strongly favors tribal sovereignty, even in the sticky case of the Cherokee Freedmen and despite pressure from the Congressional Black Caucus. He was a co-sponsor of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act, noting this countrys moral imperative to address the significant health care disparities months ago.
Tribal leaders across the country have endorsed Barack and are contributing their thoughts and ideas to the campaign. Here is a list of the members of Baracks ever growing Tribal Leaders Steering Committee. Barack Obama makes sense for First…

Barack Obama:
Alas, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) who actually understands there is due process in legal matters, and that even Congress should heed this principle, rule of law.
Let the citizens and government bodies of Cherokee Nation determine their own outcomes. If the CBC wants to be driven to rescue other ‘Blacks’, for which they name themselves to gather and work in behalf of, champion a critical cause to compel their benevolent US representatives and appropiations committee members, to cut the funding who will not provide refuge to those where fatalities are a daily reality.
The fact that sovereign nations make decisions every day regarding their government is a basic and fundamental right of all nations, even if other nations disagree.
Has the CBC protested their own US governments continued financial support of other sovereign nations who have refused to take in Darfur refugees, or demanded…to the point of amending, to exclude funding to these nations, where they have closed their doors to help these innocent victims of genocide?
Case in point, Israel. In August of 2007 Israel turned away 50 refugees who entered through Egypt. Just how many millions does the US provide to this nation every year, and did the CBC take up the plight of their fellow man by demanding the US cut their funding to the nation, or did the CBC work with the UN towards an equitable solution of support for those fleeing to a neighboring country. Many of these refugees were placed in prisons, for “lack of better provisions” when they entered into Israel.
Perhaps the CBC is illuminating more discrimination than those they accuse of by picking and choosing who they provide attention to.
CBC members, please identify which nations’ ‘Blacks’ you are willing to represent?
It cannot be those who are Black-Cherokee citizens of Cherokee Nation, because HR 2824 does not recognize them, and you have refused to identify or speak with any Blacks other than the non Indian-freedmen descendants.
Time to refocus, CBC!
